The hills in the Hielands are bonnie, Wi' the licht an' the shadow at play; An' the winds that mak' redder the heather Far up on the cliff an' the brae. The white clouds are floatin' abune them, Like snawdrifts that never can fa', The hills in the Hielands are bonnie, The hills in the Hielands are braw! --Alexander Anderson (1845-1909)

Big News!
I'm in! I received an email yesterday from Dr. Karen Cullen in the History Department of The University of the Highlands and Islands informing me that as soon as she finishes processing my application to UHI I can look forward to an offer of a place in their Scottish History Program beginning this coming September!! I know a lot of you assumed that I had already been accepted. Otherwise why would I have quit my job, sold everything I own, put my house on the market and left town already? Only an idiot would do that before she was sure, right? Wait a minute, why are you all pointing at me? I prefer to call it a leap of faith. Decide what you want in life, put it out to the fates and act on it. OK, OK, I know, but it worked this time didn't it? Whew! To be honest, I didn't really have a plan B. But, as of yesterday, no Plan B needed! I'm pretty excited. Last July I returned from Scotland with an increased desire to live there....someday. Something I've daydreamed about for several years. Now, seven months later, I have been accepted to my first choice school in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Huzzah! There are still a few other wrinkles to iron out over the next six months but one thing at a time.

Good luck Mom Eggers! I wish you the best, it is going to be awesome!
Take care of yourself,

Connie,
I really enjoyed your story of your journey to pittsburg. It sounds like a fun trip. Have a wonderful time with your family. Keep in touch. What an exciting life you are going to have. In your second half.
Karen
Huzzah! I think I'd heard you were still applying, but I wasn't really worried about you :-) Sounds like you had an awesome time on your road trip, and I was glad to get regular updates by text message :-) And me, in almost exactly 36 hours, I'm going to be journeying to Hawaii, both home and for my boy to meet my parents :-)
WOW! What a woman! Love it! Take good care of your brave little self.
Di.
Mom's my role model. :)
Bob Dylan made me think of you:
Well, my heart's in the Highlands at the break of day
Over the hills and far away
There's a way to get there, and I'll figure it out somehow
But I'm already there in my mind
And that's good enough for now
Oh Nik, I like that! I'll use it at some point in the future.
Where did the picture come from? You look worried!
That's funny. Shauna says it looks whimsical. Sherry says I look like I'm about to say something. You say I look worried. It's just a picture of me that I don't hate. If you have one of me that you like better email it to me and I'll take a look.
Congratulations, Connie!
